History of the Corrigan Collection

The Corrigan Collection in its present form was established in 2005 with the acquisition, refurbishment, and grand reopening of Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill, though its roots stretch back much further.

In 2008, Corrigan’s Mayfair opened its doors. With the closure of Chef Corrigan’s first restaurant, the Michelin-starred Lindsay House, many of its talented staff moved across to the new Mayfair site. The restaurant launched to widespread acclaim, winning London Restaurant of the Year from the Evening Standard, three AA Rosettes within its first three months, and AA London Restaurant of the Year. It also achieved one of the highest new entries in the National Restaurant Awards that year. Both Bentley’s and Corrigan’s thrived with Bentley’s reclaiming its reputation as an iconic London institution, and Corrigan’s continuing to impress critics and diners alike.

In 2014, the Collection expanded to include Virginia Park Lodge, a historic estate with deep personal significance for Chef Corrigan, as it was where he married his wife, Maria. Recognising its untapped potential, he invested in a refurbishment that restored the grounds and transformed the farm into a thriving haven for nature. With a focus on organic, local, and sustainable produce, the Lodge now provides seasonal ingredients for weddings, events, and on-site dining throughout the year.

In 2019, Chef Corrigan returned to London to open Daffodil Mulligan in Shoreditch, an Irish restaurant celebrating its wood-fired grill and Irish hospitality. Beloved for its consistency and team spirit, it quickly became a favourite among London insiders. The following year, the basement bar Gibney’s London opened in collaboration with the Gibney family of Malahide and John Nugent, creating a warm, authentic home for those seeking one of the best pints of Guinness in the city.

Most recently, in 2023, Richard Corrigan renewed his long-standing partnership with caterers Searcys, collaborating on the opening of the Portrait Restaurant at the National Portrait Gallery, crowning the Collection’s continued growth and reputation for excellence.
